Summary of the last round Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) and WA State Nomination Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)

The most recent invitation rounds for Australia’s Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) and Western Australia’s State Nomination Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) were conducted in late 2024.

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189):

On November 7, 2024, the Department of Home Affairs issued 15,000 invitations for the subclass 189 visa, indicating Australia’s commitment to attracting skilled professionals, such as construction workers, medical professionals, qualified teachers and engineers.

WA State Nomination Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190):

Western Australia conducted an invitation round on November 20, 2024, as part of its State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) for the 2024-2025 program year. A total of 1,599 invitations were issued across various streams:

  • General Stream – WASMOL Schedule 1 and 2:
      • Subclass 190: 600 invitations (200 for Schedule 1, 400 for Schedule 2)
      • Subclass 491: 600 invitations (200 for Schedule 1, 400 for Schedule 2)
  • Graduate Stream – Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training (VET):
    • Subclass 190: 198 invitations (150 for Higher Education, 48 for VET)
    • Subclass 491: 201 invitations (150 for Higher Education, 51 for VET)

This round underscores Western Australia’s efforts to attract skilled migrants to meet the state’s labor market needs.

 

SkillSelect EOI Invitation Round Results plus State-Nominated Invitation results are for:

  1. Skill Select EOI Invitation Round is for people who lodged an Expression of Interest (EOI)
  2. The two Genral Skilled Migration (GSM) visa subclasses are 189 (Skilled Independent) (Australian Permanent visa) and subclass 491 (Skilled Family Sponsored) (Australian Provisional visa).
  3. The two State-nominated visa subclasses are 190 (Skilled State-nominated) (Australian Permanent visa) and subclass 491 (Skilled State Nominated Regional) (Australian Provisional visa).

EasyMigrate is happy to write that this is the SECOND Invitation-round that has everyone excited- these last three quarterly invitation-rounds show a tremendous increase in the number of invitations being issued!

There were 15,000  invitations published for the last November 2024 invitation round for SC189 applicants, with a cut-off date of January 2023 and a minimum points-score of 65 points. The previous invitation round (September 2024) had 7,973 invitations for Skilled Independent (SC189) at 65 points. But this time (November 2024) the SC189 invitations have almost doubled to 15,000 invitations!
