Have you wondered how many people have entered and left Australia since the pandemic started?

The pandemic has greatly limited the amount of arrivals and departures but what about these exemptions we keep hearing about? How many of those has there been?

The Department of Immigration has released the numbers for how many travel exemptions have been granted since the travel restrictions were put in place. Permission to enter the country was granted to 10,440 visa holders and permission to leave was granted to 10,004 permanent residents and Australian citizens.

Of those entering Australia, 64% held transit visas, while most of the remainder were granted permission to enter on compassionate grounds at 16.5%. 54% of people granted permission to exit Australia were granted exemptions on compassionate grounds.
