NEW ZEALAND TO AUSTRALIA OPTIONS
Living in Australia
New Zealand citizens have many privileges. They are free to
visit, work, and even live permanently in Australia, and eventually
gain Australian citizenship.
NZ citizens enjoy privileges such as being entitled to visit,
work, and even live permanently in Australia, without the necessity
of applying for any visa. This arrangement permits NZ citizens
to remain in Australia indefinitely, as long as they maintain
NZ citizenship. Moreover, NZ citizens who live in Australia are
treated for almost all practical purposes as Australian permanent
residents and are eligible to apply for Australian citizenship
after 2 years of living there. Moreover, NZ and Australia have
an agreement that establishes a free trading market between the
two countries by reducing and eventually removing all tariffs
and trade barriers.
Close Ties to the Australia, U.S.A.
New Zealand (NZ) certainly benefits from its close ties with
the Australia and U.S.A. In terms of access to huge and diverse
Australian and U.S. markets, NZ is ideal. Thanks to economic treaties,
New Zealanders enjoy the rewards and benefits of mutual economic
relations.
New Zealand - Australia Agreements
The Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement allows Australian and New
Zealand citizens to enter the other's country to visit, live and
work-- all without the necessity of applying for a visa. (Note
that health and character clearances are still required before
entry to the other country will be permitted). This arrangement
permits New Zealand citizens remain in Australia indefinitely,
as long as they maintain NZ citizenship. Clearly, this open-flow
of people also holds much promise for immigrant investors and
skilled workers, as NZ citizens essentially have access to two
economic climates. Moreover, NZ citizens who live in Australia
are treated for almost all practical purposes as Australian permanent
residents and are eligible to apply for Australian citizenship
after few years of living there.
The Closer Economic Relations (CER) agreement, ratified between
New Zealand and Australia in 1980, further promotes the exchange
of business and economic relations. The agreement essentially
established a free trading market between the two countries by
aiming to reduce and ultimately remove tariff and quota barriers.
Finally, the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement (1998)
basically established mutual recognition of qualifications between
Australia and New Zealand. Thus, for example, if a person is
qualified and registered to practice a designated profession in
New Zealand, he/she will be permitted to practice in Australia
as well.
