Changes to VETASSESS assessment

The skills-assessment has been divided in two parts – Provisional and Final Assessment
Provisional Assessment is for Australian graduates only - can be lodged immediately after finishing your studies and allows you to lodge a SC 485 visa ONLY. You then need to obtain one year of work experience (or more) in your nominated or closely related occupation after the provisional assessment and apply for final assessment
For persons with "overseas qualifications" - to get a final assessment, the applicant needs to comply with the requirements of the Vetassess matrix - some qualifications are accepted "as is", some qualifications require a minimum of one year post-qualification employment, some require two years, etc.
Final Assessment allows you to lodge your General Skilled Migration (GSM) application subject to meeting the points test requirements.
The fee has gone up from $385 to $473 if applied online and $517 if a paper application is lodged.
If your Australian qualification is supported by an offshore qualification for assessment then the fee goes up to $550 for online applications and $594 for paper applications
