Important Admissibility Requirements
In addition to successfully passing the immigration selection criteria, all
immigration applicants (regardless of under which immigration
program they apply) and their dependants -- whether accompanying
or not -- must pass Canada's admissibility requirements pursuant
to the Immigration Act and Immigration Regulations. The admissibility
requirements prescribe that applicants must:
|
1
|
Be medically admissible to Canada. You must meet certain health requirements so as not to pose a significant health risk to other people in Canada or place undue burden on Canada's health and social system.
A medical examination is required of all applicants. |
|
2
|
Be criminally admissible to Canada. You and your dependants must be law abiding and not pose a risk to the security of Canada.
All applicants and their dependants 18 years of age and over must submit police clearances. |
|
3
|
Present proof of sufficient settlement funds. You must possess enough money to support yourself and your dependants for six months in Canada. You will be required to have at least C $10 000 for yourself and C $2000-$3000 for each accompanying dependant (spouse or
child). You must also prove that you have extra money to buy an airline ticket to Canada. However, for Quebec, proof of settlement funds for 3 months only is sufficient. |
